Love That Lasted
It was Valentine’s Day 1952.
Two young people were having a picnic in the park.
She was in a green dress, with a tiny gold charm around her neck.
He had a box of chocolates and flowers...as this was a special occasion.
He gave her a kiss and a caramel.
She was sitting beside him, giving him a smile.
They recalled a year ago when he was drafted into the U.S. Army.
She wrote letters to him everyday...they missed each other very much.
They had only been together a month before they married.
Then he left for war.
Their early separation forged such a closeness.
He came back to her...she beamed as she looked for her husband.
He gave her a kiss and a smile.
They left to go have a picnic together.
Their love has lasted.
