Tattooed Acceptance
I always dreadfully assumed something would
Eventually
Rule over me
Like the moon, with the tides,
Or the wind's connection
With the sea
But I waited up
In my room, for hours
It seemed.
I stared at that painting
Of a storm on the upper West Coast,
Vocalizing all my secrets
Knowing I'll be judged--
I stood, letting the rain stain my clothes with
Longed for latitude and
Sting my face with
Its late embrace
But the water wouldn't say
Who it was or will be
That will make me stay;
Only left me with a single-worded craving;
Freedom.
