Fading
I’m trying to forget what happened
I’m trying to let go of you
But how can I
I watched as you grew
Into a beautiful blossoming meadow
And I stayed the same
A decaying orchid defeated in a duel delaying death
Fading away
Losing the fight against their wilting
You have turned your back so easily
Acting like I am less than a distant memory
I sometimes wonder if you aren’t acting
Or if that’s what I am to you
An old memory
Fading away
Losing the fight against being forgotten

This piece was inspired by the week I forgot about an orchid that I had in my room. It all started with ,"I am a fading orchid", and just blasted away from that.
