My Internet Friend
You told me I was pretty
before you told me I was intelligent.
You said you were weirded out by my name,
Your American slang confusing me.
You wanted to hear my voice
But I wouldn't let you.
I didn't know you, you could be anyone
A 60 year old pervert chatting up young girls, perhaps.
Your picture looked friendly, handsome and smiley
But still I didn't even know you.
I asked you: is it not scary I could be anyone?
Your reply, simple and short: wtf
You said that you text HUNDREDS of strangers
It's what a teenager does.
You said I have a lot to learn
And I didn't question that.
You said I can be your internet friend
But I'm not sure if I wanna be.
