My Future Self
As I walked through the park, I stopped to rest at a bench.
Approaching me on my left, was a middle-aged woman,
with long gray hair wearing a red Wisconsin sweatshirt.
She sat down next to me, and as she turned to face me,
My jaw dropped nearly to the ground.
The woman on my left, was me!
This woman had wrinkles around her eyes and her mouth.
She had streaks of gray in her long wavy hair.
But this woman, still had my same big blue eyes.
We sat in silence for a few moments, staring into each other’s eyes.
Then, she got up and started walking away.
But, turned back for one moment and whispered,
“Love yourself, like you love others.”
