I Was Busy
I lied and said I was busy. I was busy, but not in a way that most people understand.
I was busy taking deeper breaths.
I was busy silencing my irrational thoughts.
I was busy calming my racing heart.
I was busy trying to convince myself that I was ok.
I was busy trying to find a way to love myself.
Sometimes this is my busy, but people don’t understand that.

I do not write for this generation. I am writing for other ages. If this could read me, they would burn my books, the work of my whole life. On the other hand, the generation which interprets these writings will be an educated generation; they will understand me and say: 'Not all were asleep in the nighttime of our grandparents.' -- Jose Rizal
