A New Life
She touched the little box in her pocket and smiled.
“The things this box could hold,” thought the little child.
When she got home, and retrieved the box from her pocket,
she opened it only to find a little locket.
She picked it up, and began to freeze.
When she opened the locket, she fell to her knees.
She began to tear, and bore her pearly whites;
She thought of all those starry nights.
The ones where she lay, spread on his throw
Looking up at the sky from the land below.
She brought herself back to the present date,
And thought that maybe this was her fate;
To sit there in her living room,
Absorbing all the gloom.
Her thoughts were put on hold,
As she took a phone call that would unfold
Her new life.
