Meeting Again
Your rain-stained
window panes look
as empty as me
we’re both dying slowly
with silent groans
it’s been too long to call you home.
who
have we become since our stories
sp
lit
i’ve locked other doors, walked other halls
you’ve aged now with your crumbled walls
i’d say i’m back but
perhaps
i’ve never been here before, we’ve changed so much
my weary feet
your battered door
i
don’t remember you so small
you used to be strongest of all
but i’ve broken my heart
and forgotten my vows, thought
my footprints of innocence could mend me somehow
but your broken windows whisper that
i’m the stranger now.
