Just Swim
Fear is a rapid wave
Crashing so hard around you.
It pulls you beneath the surface,
Choking you, drowning you.
We sometimes forget all we need to do,
Is face it.
To push through the water
To swim through the current
To not give in
Fear can kill us if we let it
It can cover over any other emotion
Can distract our minds from thinking thoroughly
All you can see, all you can feel
Is your breath being sucked in, your heart racing
We are sometimes so blinded by it,
So distracted by all the water,
We forget by being brave and overcoming it,
Forgetting that the surface is only right above the water
That we can save our lives.
We just need to swim.
