Advice For Drowning Molluscs
You are not an oyster
And those pills you’re swallowing
Are far more than grains of sand
Chances are you won’t be puking up pearls
That rope is not a crown of laurel declaring you king of oblivion
And the scale is not a pedestal on which you stand- an idol to vanity
Open the munitions box and find that pistol is not a ticket anywhere
Just a greased up set of tubes and springs as willing to destroy your sadness as someone else’s joy
You are not an oyster
But go on shining like your belly is filled with pearls
