One Two Three
Close your eyes
and count to three
now count again
and nothing’s changed
just keep counting
one hundred and five
three hundred sixteen
one million forty
one two and three
keep counting keep counting
nothing’s changed
nothing’s changed
can’t open your eyes yet
let it fade, make it fade
the numbers keep coming
as if it changes the facts
that life keeps on moving
but not really that fast
seven years, eighteen hours
three decades, two months
nothing’s changed, nothing’s changed yet
so keep your eyes shut
make the world keep on turning
make it spin make it spin
one two three now move faster
so that life can begin
tear a page off the calendar
another hope cast to the floor
one day closer to the pay off
if the counting stops, there’s something more
open your eyes
and look around you
don’t do it yet
just think some day
you’ll be glad you just kept counting
counting your entire life away
