Smile With a Frown
Looking at her
With that oh so perfect smile
The one that could melt my heart
I try not to miss it
But sometimes memories get the best of me
It just cripples me
Only today,
I have more to say
I have something besides pain
Feelings other than longing
So come with me
Let me tell you
Just what you've been missing
Here it goes
The other day
I was looking in the mirror
Feeling quite confident
Basking in your misery, in fact
Yes, I've been told
You were rejected
She's not blonde, you know
Not your usual type of girl
Of course, who is
Well
Anyways
I saw myself
And for the first time
I saw something I liked
Here I was
Confident
Happy, smiling
Something I've struggled with
All of my life
The best part was
I wasn't smiling because of you
I don't need you for that anymore
I may sill miss you
But my heart is full again
On and by the way
I see you frowning
It doesn't look nice on you
Could it be because you're filled with regret
I don't dare to hope
Tell me I'm wrong
I can't want you
Now that I finally got that out
Let me say goodbye
Allow me the strength
To not look back
