At My Best
At my best,
The streets were not safe at night.
And the people hardly sung
Happy songs celebrating the good times
At my best,
A lot of those around me argued.
In marriage, in friendship, in reality....
I missed my chance to speak up.
At my best,
No one would listen.
The public divided in two,
Only seeing their point of view.
At my best,
My voice was strained.
My voice was barely heard.
Only one may have listened.
At my best,
My voice was not heard.
Ah, the one insignificant argument!
With head held high,
I tried once more.
And then I suddenly stood out.
Like the pop of color,
on a black and white outfit,
That made the outfit complete...
After everyone spotted it.
